Poplars Pool

About this pool

Please Note: This lake is on a commercial fishery and all rules and regulations of this fishery must be followed at all times.

Poplars, the first pool you encounter on entering Hampton Springs Fishery. It is half an acre in size in a sheltered situation with mature trees bordering its far bank, ideal for those windy days and Winter fishing. With an average depth of 4-6’ it has a central island and two lily beds at either end providing some nice features to fish to. The pool has 16 numbered pegs.

The hours of fishing are
1.
Summer times are 7am – 7pm.
2. Winter times are 8am – 4pm

There is a toilet block 30 metres from the pool, with two flushing toilets, urinals and two wash basins with hot and cold running water. There is also a fully stocked tackle shop, however please note, live bait isn’t stocked.

It is stocked with a range of fish including mirror/common carp to 14lbs Chub, Tench, Bream, Perch, Roach, Crucian Carp and Barbel. Fishing is consistently good all year round and Poplars is a favourite with pleasure men in the Summer and match men in Winter. Pole and waggler are the best methods with an occasional small ledger to the island or to the opposite bank if no anglers fishing. Corn, meat, pellet and maggots are the preferred baits.

Tarporley members will fish it for free, if you were to arrive and the water is full then the management will allocate you a place on Oasis the water next to ours, at no charge.

This is a day ticket water all year round except on days for club matches. On match days Tarporley will have sole use of the water.

The procedure for our evening matches 7pm – 9pm is as follows.

The match secretary will be given a phone number and at 7pm the complex will empty and the gates will be locked, when the match is over and everyone is lined up at the gate ready to leave, the match secretary will ring the number and the gates will be opened remotely.
Once everyone is safely through the gates the match secretary will ring the number again and the gates will close and self-lock.

The average match winning weights are 80lb, the record match winning weight is 100lb+

The procedure for day fishermen.
On arrival report directly to the tackle shop (do not go to the pool).
You must show your TDAC membership card and your EA licence.
You will then be booked onto the pool, you can then return to one of the two car parks by the pool. Move onto your selected peg and start fishing.

For the members that take their partners with them, if their partners don’t fish that’s ok.
If their partners do fish they will need a TDAC card and an EA licence to fish the pool. (These must be shown at the tackle shop before fishing).

We will supply a TDAC card (on request) for members partners to use at Hampton Springs, and this card will have printed on it “Hampton Springs only” and will cost nothing. The card will have a stamped number on it (for my records) and if lost will cost £10 to replace.

Hampton Springs Fishery has its own rules which must be adhered to, if you break any of their rules your card will be removed and posted to me.

It is the member’s responsibility to read and understand these rules.
