Dear Members
I hope you all have been enjoying your fishing so far this season.
We had a great turnout for our January AGM in Kelsall, thank you to all the members who took time to attend. 35 people attended.
Below is the update that we presented, discussed and voting was made.
CLUB ACHIEVEMENTS
Update of the work your committee has been doing this year.
I would like to start with a huge thank you to our Bailiffs and Committee Members for the amazing jobs you have done this season.
We continued with our clear 5 point plan this season.
1. Fill our Committee Vacancies
2. Control Costs & Invest Sensibly
3. Increase our Membership
4. Maintain our Key Waters
5. Replenish Fish Stocks.
We have moved over to new membership cards this year which will allow a much faster and more cost-efficient renewal process next season. This has all been funded and we will see a significant benefit next year.
Thank you all for your patience whilst we did this.
Our website has also been updated, allowing for easier use and faster member updates.
We have circa 380 members now, with a maximum limit of 400 members. If you know anyone that is looking to join, please direct them to our website.
We made a commitment this season to complete the works we started on Little Budworth, installing new pegs, new walkways, new stages, removing weed beds, improving water flow, and giving the new fish we purchased a great start in their new home.
This has been greatly received by members, and the fish catches have been superb this year.
We made a second commitment to focus our efforts for the coming seasons on making Little Mill our primary focus from an investment and effort point of view, so that the water that we own as a club is restored to its former glory.
We will be netting Little Budworth and fish except carp will be moved to Little Mill. This will help the biomass in both waters.
We have had several work party’s that members have supported well, enabling us to clear and landscape the left-hand side of the lake, make good the pegs and plant out new lily and rush beds.
We have desilted the wall and dug out and re-established the top end of Lake.
We have Installed a brand-new fence the full length of the right-hand Side of the lake, this will keep the cattle at bay and allow the banks to regrow. The club thanks Stuart Davenport for his help and guidance. This looks fantastic.
We have also invested heavily in mobile aeration equipment that will provide much needed support in the coming springs and summers that will only get hotter and drier, meaning we can look after our fish welfare.
We have installed net dips at our main waters that have helped keep infections at bay that have plagued neighbouring clubs. Please make sure that you support this ongoing.
We have put up notice boards on the big 3 waters that give members up to date information and particularly help the safe and accurate use of bait boats on Oulton Mill and Little Budworth.
This has all come at considerable cost, but we responsibly discussed and planned this spending as a committee to give our members some fantastic fishing this year, with one eye on the coming season.
I hope you agree that the committee, bailiffs and work party volunteers have done an amazing job so far this season to keep the club clean, tidy and fishing well.
If you would like to be part of our committee, please reach out, we are also looking for a work party co-ordinator who can work with our committee and bailiffs to keep our waters safe and well looked after.
